The Comox Valley Community Arts Council, which also operates the Muir Gallery, is an non-profit organization that promotes and supports arts, culture and education in and around the Comox Valley. We co-ordinate and co-sponsor art shows and workshops, literary projects, performing arts events and children's programs including Art in the Park and Kids Fest. We also take every opportunity to promote our member groups.

The Muir Gallery is host to a variety of exhibitions featuring community artists as well as community and regional juried art shows. The Muir Gallery is also host to literary events, workshops and presentations.

Lori Kenney presents Unnatural Nature 2 Sep 2010 - 10:54 by admin General | Help Advocate for the Arts The Comox Valley Community Arts Council has been working with many other arts organizations in our province to understand the current and proposed provincial funding cuts and have committed to working with each other in efforts towards advocacy for our communities and for individuals in our province. We have written letter to ministers, to our municipal governments and continue in a variety of efforts to advocate for all of us. We are asking you to take part in the many opportunities that are available. An amazing slideshow of photos representing a few summer months of arts events in our community has been put together by the wonderful Sarah Kerr and is on the media-video page of this website: www.comoxvalleyarts.org/videos.php  The Assembly of BC Arts Councils is working with other arts organizations to collect information to support our advocacy efforts.  We have two new surveys which we hope will provide a clear picture of the effects on our members and their members, etc., of the cuts to Direct Access Gaming funds and potential cuts to BC Arts Council funding.This survey will stay up for several weeks, but we encourage you to try and fill them out by Friday, December 4, as we want to forward them directly to the Minister the following Monday.  If this deadline doesn't work for you, we would still like to hear from you as our avocacy efforts will be ongoing. The first survey, Personally Meaningful Experiences, is meant to collect the true value of the arts and arts progams.  Here we ask you to tell us the human story rather than the statistical one.
